Radiocarbon Dating testing Pool
We are currently planning small batches of radiocarbon tests as its there are discounts available for multiple specimen tests as well as for research so we are welcoming any individuals or Organisations interested in pooling together for swamp kauri carbon dating tests or any other amber studies.
• Minimum sample size: 1 cm³.
• Samples must be clean and free from contaminants such as polyurethane, oils, waxes or other coatings.
• Samples should be taken from untreated fossil kauri gum.

Research Instrument in development
We are currently developing a research instrument that combines calibrated hardness penetration sensing tests with laser based optical refraction measurements to estimate age ranges without relying on costly radiocarbon testing for every specimen. by cross refrencing these readings against radio carbon dated specimens and gum recovered from geologically dated extraction sites, we aim to produce increasingly accurate, repeatable and cost effective age estimates for subfossil amber.
